Philodendron Speciosum X Bipinnatifidum
This is one of my first releases of a hybrid Philodendron I have breed. The cross was from a Philodendron Speciosum I grew from seed collected out of Brazil which has mature leaves 4 to 6 feet long and are shown in the second to last picture. The father plant is a odd species of Philodendron bipinnatifidum also grown from seed collected out of Brazil. This form is much larger growing than most forms. It is also much different than the form you often see for sale. My mother plant has 5 foot leaves by 4 feet wide. The dissections in the leaf are larger and more prominent. The last photo is a picture of the father plant. This hybrid should grow very tall and producing leaves 4 to 6 feet long. It looks as if the leaves will be narrow with partially pinnate edges. Plants like this are rarely offered as they rarely produce offsets. They are also very hard to get cuttings from. Don't miss out. Plants are great for large containers as an indoor house plant or as large landscape plants for tropical gardens.
Each hybrid is unique and the photos shown are of the exact plant up for auction. The plant is almost 2 years old grown in a 4 to 4 1/2 inch pot.
Shown here are both parent plants. Each have leaves over 4 to 5 feet long. The hybrids should produce some monstrous looking plants.
