Petasites japonicus purpureus a dark leaf spreading plant hardy in zone 3 to 7. Plants grow 1 to 2 feet tall with leaves 8 inches to 1 foot wide and long. Petasites japonicus purpureus tends to have a dark maroon veins and dark green leaves sometimes all the leaves are maroon at first. A great ground cover in shady wet areas. Plants will spread quickly. Sold in  4 1/2 inch pots.
